Tips for Chameleon

Don't Bother!. I returned to Green Bay to get married in the city I grew up and booked my hair and make-up appointments at Chameleon. I wanted to make sure that everything would go smoothly on the morning of the "Big Day" since we would be pressed for time. I scheduled a practice up-do with my stylist- Am I happy I had a practice. In fact the entire experience led me to draw the conclusion that the women doing my hair was practicing being a hair stylist.

I had brought in photos of what I wanted along with a photo of myself with this up-do. I then proceeded to sit in the chair for 2 hours- what I walked away with was terrible. The back combing around the crown of my head was lumpy, the pinning of my hair was so loose that it was falling out by the time I was leaving and frankly what I wanted did not consist of anything more than back combing at the crown and pinning loops at the nape of my neck. Apparently too difficult?

I was charged $100 for the practice up-do. I was honestly willing to pay this for a quality up-do. But what I got was terrible and below amateurish. Do NOT go here. It is not worth the headache. Even after contacting the salon to discuss my concerns I was dismissed and offered no alternative solutions.

overpriced & inexperienced teenage staff. I expected a lot more from a fancy-looking spa. The person who did my manicure & pedicure seemed like she was fresh out of highschool and complained about some of her other clientele to me. The manicure was WAY over priced for what I got too. Also it wasn't a very luxourious atmosphere, so I don't know what the sky-high price was for. Don't waste your money here, you can get much better for about the same price or even less.

horrible. I've gotten my hair done at many places-and my experience at chameleon was BY FAR the worst I ever had. I do not reccomend anyone to go to chameleon..and besides their prices are RIDICULOUS!! I also recieved a massage there. Although it was better than the hair experience, i've recieved better elsewhere as well. I also ran into the owners, and they are extremely rude. I have heard that they have a hard time keeping their staff because they are very rude people. They are very self-centered and care about their money rather than their clients and employees. Please don't waste your money people!! Go someplace different because the people there do not deserve your money! The place is horrible!

Some good things, some bad. First the good: I love Aveda products and they carry a full line. They also do a great job with waxing, using a different system than most salons which results in much greater level of comfort and reduced post waxing redness and irritation. I never go anyplace else for waxing. The staff has always been quite polite and friendly. Now the bad--the atmosphere is like a big metal industrial warehouse, loud and clankiy. I much preferred their smaller brick building. There is no privacy. Manicures are done literally at a bar at which many others sit on barstools, while the manicurist stands on the other side for your manicure. Pedicures are in the same room. The services are very youth oriented. I have tried this place twice for haircuts with different stylists and they have been awful--no experience with hair over 35 years of age. And I think the prices are quite high for the services rendered. My manicure for my son's wedding lasted 2 days before polish was noticibly damaged, whereas other manicures I have had elsewhere have lasted 5-7 days before this happens. Overall impression: some good things and some bad.

Excellent Place to go and be pampered!!. Chameleon Salon and spa is excellent! I go there to mostly get my hair done, but since they bult the new building and moved over off of Lime Kiln, everything has been outstanding!! As a college student, the prices are a little high for my wallet, but it's worth it. My hair looks great every time I leave. The products offered are excellent, the staff is great, and they really listen to what you want. Every thing is Aveda concept, so you are getting the best of the best no matter what you have done. It's also great for messages, facials, manicures, you name it. Check it out! You'll love it!!

Very disappointed!. I began going to this salon when it was downtown Green Bay. At that time it was newer and the staff was terrific. As it gained popularity, the owner developed a "who cares what you think!" attitude and myself and a couple of my friends stopped going there. A few years later, I decided to try again. WRONG! I waited 20 minutes for a horrible manicure that I ended up redoing at home. Shame on me for giving it a 2nd chance. Save your money....
