Brett's Steakhouse needs better oversight
by eatapc at Citysearch
My son and I ate here three times this weekend (lunch, tailgate brunch, dinner). We love Brett and the Packers.
The food: The steaks are USDA Choice. Nothing special. I can get better meat at the local Costco. The seafood (we had a trout entre, oysters appetizer and crawfish sandwich) was dry, not fresh and juicy. The crawfish po' boy was pretty tasteless. How can Cajun food be tasteless?!!! Luckily, the jambalaya was terrific. Ribs were the boiled-first, falling-off-the-bone style (OK by me), but the sauce was cloyingly sweet, artificially smoked and glopped on heavily.
The wine list: A wine that I bought locally for $10 (Ercavio) was $70 at the restaurant. In fairness, Ercavio does have a more expensive wine, but the wine list gives no details, no year; I couldn't tell which Ercavio the Steakhouse actually had. Some wines were priced reasonably (at a little over twice retail), but many wines seemed to be priced irrationally. A Louis Martini cab, normally $13 or $17 at retail (Martini has two), was on the wine list for $50 -- and it was $13.50 for a glass! Another wine that was $48 for the bottle was only $7.75 for the glass. What numbskull at the Steakhouse is pricing these wines?
The staff: I asked one waitress what wines were particularly popular. (I wanted to order by the glass and try a few, but I didn't want to get one that had been opened and sitting around for a few days.) She had no clue. When I pressed her, she named a wine that was not on the wine list.
All of the waiters and waitresses seemed to speak by rote. The daily specials and the "meat tray" are explained in a style I associate with third graders giving a show-and-tell.
I ordered a rainbow trout special and asked the waitress exactly how the fish was cooked. "With herb butter" was all the detail I could get out of her. It came covered in bread crumbs and completely dried out.
- Pros: good jambalaya
- Cons: clueless staff, overpriced wine, so-so food

Over-priced and poor drinks
by eschube at Citysearch
My wife and I stopped in for a pair of drinks. We ordered a martini and a bloody mary. I think the bill was almost $20. The martini was all muddled and the bloody mary looked like it was made with ketchup.
Gosh, the place looks nice, but they can't make a drink to save their life! No thanks, I'll "pass", get it? (-:
Very Disappointing

Last night my husband and I went to Favre's for the first (and last) time. The decor is intimate and beautiful; white linens, nice stemware on the tables, perfect lighting. We were greeted and seated immediately. We thought we would be in for a real treat. We looked at the menu, and while we were not stunned by the prices, they were higher than most. We assumed this was because the quality of the food and method of preparation and presentation would be superior. Our server came to greet us and take a drink order. I asked her what the house specialty was or what drinks were particularly good here. She replied that she wasn't 21 yet, therefore was not familiar with the drinks. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? What kind of an answer was that? Especially when followed with, "Would you like to see our martini menu and wine list?" There were 104 different martinis on the list, and this poor girl couldn't think to recommend a single one of them?! I found my own, a berry concoction--not bad--and I selected a glass of wine to be served with my entree. My husband and I each ordered a steak and salad. The salads were fine, but the bread that was served with them was stale and tasteless. After what seemed like an unusually long time for medium rare steaks, our entrees arrived. I cut into my steak and it was medium-well (this would explain its puny size). When our server returned with the wine (much too late) I asked her how I had ordered the steak, just to be sure there was no miscommunication. She said that I had indeed ordered it medium rare. The replacement arrived swiftly- probably because it was raw-rare. The wine glass was so filthy that I was unable to drink the wine. My husband's steak was all right but not nearly as good as what we could get at Texas Roadhouse. I guess that explains why you always have to wait at the Roadhouse and why Favre's lot was nearly empty. That, and the twice average pricetag. This place needs serious help.
- Pros: no waiting
- Cons: always a reason for no waiting
Fumble!
by johanna89 at Citysearch
The menu is limited, the food is horrible & the service was slow. I sat for 30 minutes with an empty drink. I'm pretty sure when Brett is in town he doesn't eat here, or he would be upset at this place. I know I was.
- Pros: The decor is very nice
- Cons: the menu & food
Great Place to Eat!
by disneymmcali at Citysearch
Brett Favre's Steakhouse is a great place to eat! You never have to worry about leaving hungry, they give you plenty of food! Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and professional! Reservations are needed, seeing the restaurant is a popular place and does fill up fast! It definetly has a nice relaxing family friendly environment! It's also close to Lambeau Field. Overall our experience at the restaurant was great!

Pay respects to the quarterback, dig into a steak or stop by for tailgating festivities before home games.
Great price during Early Bird
by lilyfern at Citysearch
If you're on a budget, or don't want to take half your meal home, hit the early bird from 4-6 (call first to verify.) Pretty much everything is under $12 then and still, I end up with a doggy bag. You won't need reservations if it's not a game weekend, unless you come later.
Wonderful!!

So-So
by grubby at Citysearch
A great place to view Brett Farve memorbelia or buy a memento. Not a great place to eat. The food is over priced and so-so. Meat was not done as ordered. Service is good.
- Cons: Expensive
